| Christian, the owner and a builder by profession has managed to convey all the rustic charm of a country cottage while creating the kind of big living spaces required by larger parties. | |
| You
have been asking for more living space, more unlinked bedrooms, more
bathrooms, more WC’s, better equipped kitchens, dedicated play areas
for the kids and above all your own, unshared, private swimming pool –
heated, of course. We have listened and now you have it – and
a whole lot more!
In absolute calm, amidst the green rolling hills of the Vallee de la Course, La Bouquetterie is situated in a rural hamlet of rustic farms and cottages yet is only a 10 minute drive from the gastronomic town of Montreuil sur Mer and 25 minutes from chic Le Touquet (Paris by the sea) and the costal beaches. Local shop and boulangerie in the next village. |
|
|
Nearby Montreuil sur Mer is a medieval town well
known for its good restaurants, specialist boutiques and colourful
weekly market. Set high on a hill and surrounded by ancient ramparts its cobbled streets, citadel and gas lamps
make it a ‘must see’ for anyone visiting the area. Victor Hugo loved it so much he holed up
there
for the duration while
writing Les Miserables. His masterpiece is now performed against the
town's battlements on summer evenings. It’s a treat – don’t miss it! Ringed below the town are several large supermarkets, numerous specialist shops and a huge LeClerc hypermarket all perfect for the big weekly shop. For essentials and replenishing there is a small general store with a very good boulangerie just a few minutes drive away in the next village. On Friday evening during July & August a farmer’s market sets up in the little square selling everything from flowers to foie gras. |

| The ground floor of the main wing of the L-shaped property offers a huge 40 ft span of open plan living space. At the front of the house, is a spacious eat-in kitchen bordered by a breakfast bar and beautifully equipped with the latest appliances - once again carefully designed with large parties in mind. | |
|
There is an extra wide wall oven, a ceramic hob and a built-in eye level, microwave. On the opposite wall behind another set of floor to ceiling beech wood units is a tall fridge/freezer. There is also a built in dishwasher and washing machine along with a complete range of small electrical appliances. A 2nd fridge/freezer is provided in the utility room of the pool pavilion. |

A breakfast bar separates the kitchen from the dining room which is a nice touch for the cooks who can still stay with the party. |

The impressively long dining room with its overhead beams and tiled floor has been furnished in traditional country style. There are massive hand crafted wooden sideboards and a specially commissioned table which will seat 24 comfortably on matching ladder backed chairs. At the far end of the room is a floor to ceiling inglenook around which several armchairs and sofas have been placed. A door at the side of the fireplace leads to yet another reception room which has been ear-marked for reading, board games, TV/music or as a play space for the children - some of the rattan furniture is child size! English TV, Video, DVD and CD players are provided. |

Bedrooms: 9 in total including annex These bedrooms are divided by a very spacious combination bath and shower room with integral WC. There are 2 more WC’s in the passage way. The his & her bathroom has been positioned to offer easy access for both bedrooms or can be closed off from the corridor to provide en suite only to the 4 poster room, as required.
While undeniably generous in scale the house still retains a ‘cottagey’ feel with its terracotta tiled floors and exposed oak beams and furnishings. |

The interior has been
intentionally kept light and airy –
the neutral colour scheme providing a showcase for Claudette’s
self-crafted collection of needlepoint floribunda – hence the house
name, La Bouquetterie.
This theme has been reflected throughout
the house, but no more so than in the carefully chosen furnishings of
all the bedrooms, each dedicated to a favourite flower.
Even here small touches, such as choosing to provide English size
pillows and duvets, indicate the owners' thoughtfulness and
willingness to accomodate their English guests. A grand
double staircase leads from here to the first floor where there are: 6 More Bedrooms in main house: 1 double, 2 twin and 2 triples, 1 quad along with 2 more combined bath and stall shower rooms + 3 more WC's.
