Bruges – only 1˝ hrs via the A16 to
of the North’. Cobbled, medieval Bruges
crisscrossed by a network of little canals is packed full of interesting
little shops, cafes and restaurants specialising in lace, linens and
chocolates. When you can’t walk another step just hop on a little canal boat
to see the rest. Great fun for all the family.
Rouen – An easy 1 hour drive via
A16/A28 auto routes. Step back to the Middle Ages as you wander through the
street of the Old Town, visit Notre Dame Cathedral endless painted by Monet
or take away your own little piece of its history from one of its many
antique shops and flea markets (Sat, Sun & Thurs).
Honfleur – Just under 2 hrs drive via
A16/A takes you to this spectacular little Normandy port town a must on everyone’s
photo call short list. A feast for the eye as well as the stomach – make sure
you save room for a crepe and local cider – Normandy’s
answer to a Devon cream tea!
Deauville – Nr Honfleur - huge
Victorian beach resort that rivals any at the South of France. Something for
everyone: miles of smart shops, restaurants, casinos, etc, etc, and acres of
wide sandy beach where the beautiful come to see and be seen. Major American
film festival end of August – see the stars!
Paris! – What else is there to say.
Just 1˝ hrs to the Ring via the A16. Another 20 mins to easy indoor parking
at La Defence – take metro into the centre (15 mins).
